Application Procedure for International StudentsIdentify the course you want to take and the school/institution where you want to study, and what intake you wish to enroll in (February or July intake).
1. Prepare the following requirements and submit documents to the NZ Institution you are applying to
local authorized NZ education representative (IPS)
-Completed NZ Institution’s international application form
-Certified/notarised true copies of academic transcripts, High School Diploma (if applying for an undergraduate degree course) -Original copy of IELTS/TOEFL results
-A letter from your institution/school supporting your English language competency (Certificate that English as the official Medium of Instruction)
-Certified copies of your birth certificate and/or passport details
-Information about our subjects/courses, if applying for credit transfers/qualification
-Curriculum Vitae
-One-page personal statement on why you want to study in New Zealand for your chosen course (not more than 500 words)
-Application fee required
2. Wait for the results of the application (about 4-8 weeks ). If successfully admitted, NZ issues a Letter of Offer/ Offer of Place. The institution guarantees, in its Letter of Offer, to find accommodation for all international students.
3. Confirm acceptance of the offer. Students can stay at Universities’ Halls of residence or live with a NZ family (homestay) while studying in NZ. Students’ relatives who wish to accommodate them must provide a letter of sponsorship and submit a tenancy contract or proof of ownership of the property where he/she intends to ask the student to stay while studying in NZ.
4. Apply a Student Visa to Immigration New Zealand with all supporting documents required: student Visa Application Form, Original Letter of Offer, original/certified copies of birth certificate, evidence of funds (own or supported by family), booking certificate, recent passport, Official Receipt from NZ Institution (once approved). If stay is more than 24 months, provide the following additional requirements: completed medical and x-ray certificate, local police clearance and NBI certificate. Processing time takes 45 days.
5. Tuition payment can be done once student visa application has been approved in principal by
Immigration New Zealand. Payments can be done through telegraphic transfer, NZ international bank draft or credit card.
Processing time for complete applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes usually takes 4-12 weeks before the start of the semester in which you wish to commence your study. Please allot 6-12 months lead time for your New Zealand education application.
